Privacy Policy for CallMe
Effective date: 15 March 2026
CallMe ("we", "us", or "our") provides an app that lets users create temporary contacts with expiry times and, on supported devices, mirror those contacts into the device contacts database so they can appear in calling and messaging experiences.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the app processes, how it is used, and what choices you have.
1. Information We Process
CallMe may process the following information:
- Contact information you enter into the app, such as display name, phone number, address details, notes, and expiry settings.
- App settings and metadata needed for the app to function, such as timestamps, sync state, and contact expiry information.
- Contacts permission data, only to the extent needed to create, update, link, or remove temporary contacts in your device's contacts database.
- Information you intentionally share with the app through supported share or import flows.
2. How We Use Information
We use information processed by CallMe to:
- create and manage temporary contacts inside the app
- mirror temporary contacts into your device contacts database when permission is granted
- update or remove temporary contacts when they expire or are deleted
- support caller identification and contact display features on supported platforms
- sync your temporary contacts across your own devices if you enable the available sync feature on a supported platform
3. Contacts Permission
CallMe requests access to your device contacts because this access is required for its contact-mirroring and expiry management features.
On Android, the app may use READ_CONTACTS and WRITE_CONTACTS to create, update, find, link, and remove app-managed temporary contacts in the local contacts database on your device. Read access is needed so the app can identify the correct app-managed contact record and remove or update it when that temporary contact expires, is edited, or is deleted.
On Apple devices, if you grant permission, the app may mirror temporary contacts into your contacts database so names can appear in supported apps and services.
If you do not grant Contacts permission, the app's local contact storage may still function, but contact-mirroring, expiry-based contact removal, and related caller or contact display features may be limited or unavailable.
4. Where Your Data Is Stored
CallMe is designed to keep your data under your control.
On Android, temporary contacts and related app data are stored locally on your device. Temporary contacts mirrored into the Android contacts database remain on that device unless you use another service outside of CallMe that syncs your device contacts.
On supported Apple devices, app data is stored locally on your device. If you enable sync, your temporary contact records may also be stored in your private iCloud or CloudKit storage associated with your Apple account so they are available on your other supported Apple devices.
We do not operate our own servers to store your contact data.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not share your contact data with third-party advertisers.
We do not transmit your contact data to our own servers.
Data is only transmitted externally when that is necessary for a feature you choose to enable on your device or platform. For example, if you enable sync on a supported Apple device, relevant contact records may be transmitted to Apple's iCloud or CloudKit service for syncing within your own account.
6. Data Retention
Temporary contacts are retained until they expire, are deleted, or are otherwise removed through app operation.
App-managed mirrored contacts may remain in your device contacts database until the app next updates or removes them, or until you remove them manually.
If you uninstall the app, locally stored app data may be removed by your device, but contacts previously written to the device contacts database may remain until removed by the device or by you.
If you use a platform sync service such as iCloud, retention of synced data may also be subject to that provider's systems and settings.
7. Your Choices and Controls
You can:
- review, edit, or delete temporary contacts inside the app
- revoke Contacts permission at any time in your device settings
- disable available sync features, where supported
- remove app-managed contacts from your device contacts database by deleting the related temporary contact or removing them manually
8. Security
We use reasonable measures designed to protect information processed by the app. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
CallMe is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above.
